About me

I'm Gustav (Trader Gu) — a Swedish engineer, CTO in renewable energy, and part-time swing trader with multiple years of consistent profitability.

I started trading in 2022 and quickly realized that the dominant narrative — day trading, scalping, quit your job — fails for the vast majority of people. I built a different approach.

High Conviction Swing Trading is a structured, high-timeframe methodology that lets me trade efficiently while running a full-time career. I trade infrequently. I size aggressively when I have conviction. And I manage risk religiously.

My trading philosophy

  • Process over outcome — I evaluate by execution quality, not P&L alone
  • High-timeframe structure — Weekly and monthly context first. Noise reduction by design
  • Selective participation — Most setups are ignored. I trade when the conditions are right
  • Risk as a design choice — Position sizing built around conviction and defined risk
  • Psychology through structure — Rules and tools protect decisions from emotion

Why I share publicly

This site is my trading journal, toolbox, and accountability mechanism. Publishing my process publicly — wins and losses — forces clarity, discipline, and intellectual honesty. I'm not perfect, and I'm still learning. That's the point.

In January 2025, I launched the 25-Year Trading Experiment — a public, long-horizon challenge to test whether structured swing trading can outperform passive investing over decades.
